O’CADO: WINE AND DINE AT THIS CASUALLY CHIC VENTURA BLVD. VENUE

LOS ANGELES, CA
Open only two months, I was happy to see so many people stroll into O’cado Restaurant early on a Friday. The new plant-powered eatery is described as being American fusion with Mediterranean and Latin inspired dishes. Whatever you wanna call it, it’s amazing! I only wish that it was around when I worked just a few blocks up the street.

O’Crab Cakes

Mac ‘n’ cheese is one those dishes I have to try everywhere I go. But after going vegan, crab cakes is my next choice. O’cado has both. The tiebreaker? The crab cakes are $8 during happy hour. 😄 So glad I went that route because they’re the best crab cakes I’ve ever had! The two crispy-on-the-outside patties are made with tender jackfruit, artichoke, and faro, and served with dill tartar. They’re topped with an onion-poppy seed slaw of purple and white cabbage in a sweet glaze. I highly recommend them!

BBQ Chopped

The BBQ Chopped salad is also wonderfully delicious and filling. It’s packed with protein and nutritious fruits and veggies. Romaine, BBQ jackfruit, black beans, chipotle corn, tomato, onion, avocado, cilantro, sweet potato, house-made ranch dressing, and crunchy tortilla strips…yum!

Lillet Spritz

Less than a week later my closest friend Veronica and her pup Ellie came into town to hang with me and Romeo for a long weekend. I took them straight from LAX to O’cado for dinner and drinks on their dog-friendly patio. The best thing about Southern California is being able to enjoy a beautiful evening outdoors all year long. 🌴✨

I started with a light but strong Lillet Spritz—Lillet blanc apéritif wine, berries, apple bitters, mint, and sparkling wine. She went for the Rose Petal—Fentiman’s sparkling lemon-rose soda, sparkling wine, and rose water. Also on the bar menu is a well-rounded selection of sustainable wines and craft beer.

Beet & Lentil

After dinner that evening, I can now say that we recommend three out of their four salad choices—the BBQ Chopped, Caesar, and Beet & Lentil. The only one left for me to try is the Quinoa Tabouli—arugula, chickpea, avocado, and lemon. Each salad is big enough to be a standalone entrée, but good luck resisting all the extra fun stuff like Crispy Buffalo Cauliflower, Chimichurri Fries, Cashew Mac N’ Cheese, Spicy Nachos, and BBQ Sliders.

On both visits I had no room left for dessert, but I hear the cheesecake is awesome! Ask for their daily special.

⭐️ Must Try: O’Crab Cakes

Pro Tip: Happy hour is Monday through Friday, 3-6pm. Draft beers are $5, wine flights are $10, and most shared plates are $8.
